Xtreme is a company that is full of passionate doers seeking to make a difference for those around us. We believe it is imperative to get involved in our communities, and so we wanted to share 3 different ways that Xtreme is getting involved and ways you can too, this holiday season!
- Attend events that give back.
Our Portland office recently attended the Empowerment Breakfast hosted by Dress for Success. An organization that’s mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
“The speakers were absolutely excellent and shared their personal stories of overcoming hardships and how Dress for Success has changed their lives. Dress for Success has not only helped women by providing appropriate clothing for job interviews, but also restored the confidence they lost through their difficult times. It’s truly touching to hear success stories by these amazing women and what they have overcome.” -Tami Strutz, HR Generalist in Xtreme Portland.
There are plenty of fun benefits held around the holidays; whether it’s a gala, a tech show, or a fashion show donating all the proceeds to a specific charity, find what works for your office and get your company to sponsor the event!
- Help a family.
All of the following ideas to help families can be done in any city, any town, anywhere! One of Xtreme's favorite ways to help local families, is through the Adopt-A-Family program. Adopt A Family program helps children, seniors and veterans by providing food, toys, clothing and gifts during the holiday. You can also connect with a local school or organization and host a Giving Tree; this is a drive where each person picks a child or family from the tree and purchases the gifts they’ve listed on their note. Lastly, donate your time to a local food bank and make it fun! You can make a competition within your office. For example, whoever brings in the most donations gets a $350.00 donation to the charity of their choice.
- Get active.
If your office is more active, then there are tons of events you can do to get involved this holiday season! In the Seattle area there are plenty of opportunities; from Seattle Cystic Fibrosis Stair Climb to Hopelink's Turkey Trot 5K Run & Fun Walk and other 5K runs. To quickly find runs near you, I would suggest looking at the site, RunGuides. RunGuides provides runs and clubs listed across all of North America! It’s the site I use to find events for our offices held all over the West Coast!
Aside from these three, there are plenty of ways that you can get your office involved in your community during the holiday season! Talk with others in your office and see what they are interested in and go for it!
