This past week, we caught up with Jay Wendt, Business Development Manager in Boise, ID, for a quick Q&A to hear about his experience at Xtreme Consulting. Jay develops new business opportunities in the Boise area and works with an extremely talented team of software developers, project managers, and test engineers to deliver outstanding solutions to our clients.

Xtreme Consulting - Jay Wendt

What's your favorite part of your job? I love the diversity of the solutions we provide and the clients we represent. Our Boise office is unique in that we focus on both project based development and staffing. We are continually working with clients in all segments of the business, one day we could be talking with a client about building a new software application or website and the next day we could be sitting down with a different client to learn about their staffing requirements, or in some cases both. It is very rewarding to work with a client and successfully complete a project or place a great candidate with them.

What has kept you with Xtreme for 3 years? Xtreme hires great people and they take care of their people. Everyone has an opportunity to be rewarded for hard work and the success of our clients. Also, our management team allows for a fun work environment and they are committed to serving and volunteering in our communities, which is really cool!
What do you think makes the Boise business community unique? Most people think of Idaho as an agricultural state, but that has changed and the tech industry is doing very well. HP and Micron were the foundation for the tech boom in Boise and we have seen numerous spinoffs and startups from these two companies that continues to grow. We have organizations like the Idaho Tech Council and state universities committed to the growing success of Idaho’s technology ecosystem. For people looking for a healthy work-life balance, Boise is unique from other large cities in that we offer both effortless access to some amazing recreational activities and affordable housing.
What’s the best piece of career advice you have ever received? Admit there are things you don’t know and it’s okay to reach out and ask for help, allow those people around you that have the expertise to contribute.
Now we have to ask some fun questions. What is one movie you can recite every line from? Dumb and Dumber – “Don’t you go dying on me!”
If you could have dinner with any celebrity, dead or alive, who would it be and why? Bill Murray – I would love to sit down with him to talk about the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series run, his time on SNL and some of my favorite movies of his like Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day and Kingpin.
