We recently sat down with Tami Strutz, HR Administrator in Portland, OR, for a quick interview session to hear about her position and experience at Xtreme Consulting. Tami's role focuses on liaising with employees and Xtreme's head office to facilitate the benefits program and payroll, conduct new hire orientations, and most importantly, build community within our employee base by hosting regular social and volunteer events.

What's your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is getting to apply my HR education to help Xtreme’s employees. No matter what request crosses my plate, I love the variety of my role and how every day is unique and different than the day before.

What has kept you with Xtreme for over 2 years? I have been fortunate to wear multiple hats during my time with Xtreme, ranging from internal office operation to client onsite support. This has given me a wide view of the business and challenges me to come up with innovative ways to support our growth and success.
What motivates you, professionally? New challenges and making a difference are my main motivators. I really enjoy starting with a blank canvas and figuring out ways of improving how we do business. As the company continues to grow, I enjoy adapting to the new demands that come along with growth. I frequently see the results that my individual contributions deliver to Xtreme and that motivates me on a daily basis to push myself to “the xtreme”.
What are some of your goals in the year ahead? My goal in the year ahead is to simply deliver a superior quality of service. I am constantly striving to improve Xtreme’s employee experience and work to review and optimize existing processes as we continue to grow. Nothing will make me happier than to demonstrate to all employees that I am readily available to assist them and integrate constructive feedback that they may have been shared with Xtreme. Another goal is to build a Portland Xtreme community through hosting social events that enables everyone to have some fun and get to know their colleagues outside of the office.
What’s the best piece of career advice you have ever received? Always have a positive attitude and work harder than the day before. Everything else will fall into place.
Now we have to ask some fun questions. What album/artist/song gets you pumped up for a productive work day? Country music all day! Never fails to get me pumped up.
Who would be your ideal Super Bowl halftime performer and why? I am a HUGE Seahawks fan. I would be happy to see anyone perform the halftime show, but I would get a bigger kick out of seeing one of my ex-colleagues, a former Seagal, perform at the Super Bowl!
