We recently sat down with Michelle Hamman, Talent Acquisition Manager in Kirkland, WA and conducted a short Q&A to hear about her experience at Xtreme Consulting. Michelle is a proven leader of our Kirkland Recruiting Team and has been with the company for nine years.

What’s your favorite part of your job? Meeting new people and helping them find the role of their dreams is hands down the most rewarding part of my job. Knowing that I am helping change someone’s life for the better, by helping them find a role where they can be challenged, successful and happy is amazing. I have had the chance to meet so many interesting, intelligent and innovative candidates over the years – my candidates are the reason that I love what I do.


What has kept you with Xtreme for 9 years? The people. My team internally is awesome, and all of our consultants are so talented, energetic, and fun to work with. Many of our Seattle based consultants will pop by the office just to visit and say hi, or grab coffee with their recruiter or delivery manager. What makes a great company is the people that are in it, and I think Xtreme has the best in the industry (just my biased opinion!)
Who's going to be a good fit for Xtreme? We have a pretty solid mix of lifelong consultants and people who worked for years as a full time employee and recently made the switch to consulting. If you are great at what you do, but want variety in your career, along with challenging and exciting projects, consulting is the way to go. We work with really great companies that span across multiple industries. Consulting is a great way to gain experience from a wide variety of companies, in a shorter span of time. Often, it can be difficult to move within your position and group as a full time employee; as a consultant, moving around to various projects is part of the job description. If I had to sum up who would be a good fit for Xtreme, it would be anyone who is strong independently but works well with a team, are passionate about what they do, and loves new challenges.
What do you think makes Xtreme different from other consulting firms? One of the things I appreciate most about Xtreme is how important it is that our consultants are happy with their client and project – it’s a hands on approach that many consulting firms do not have. We pride ourselves on keeping our consultants with us long-term – it is not uncommon for consultants to stay with us for 3-5 years, whether that is on one continuous project, or if on multiple projects with various clients. Our Delivery Managers get to know each and every consultant and learn what they do/don’t like about their projects, team, etc. to ensure their happiness in their role – we know that it is when people feel valued that they are at their best. The holiday parties and summer picnics are a bonus, but a fun one…a lot of consultants tell us they look forward to our events every year and love bringing their families to meet everyone.
